I have a serious problem with caffeine.

Why on earth does the "I before E" rule not apply to this word?

Because of the "after c" clause, of course! Sure, the 'c' is way back at the beginning of the word, but it still counts.

There's another annoying aphonetic English word: dumb. Why on earth is there a freaking 'b' in it?!
